March For Our Lives, Our Future, and all the Good that's Left in the World. #PsychStory

Right now, in the beginning of our lives, we have a choice to make, to either fight back or lose the ongoing war that fills our schools, our communities, and our hearts. On March 24th, 2017, we took a stand. We left our homes, we drove miles on end and flew across the country to march for our f

reedom and for our safety. It wasn't just over protective parents or government leaders or activists on the go. It was children of all ages and races and gender from all around the world. It was celebrities and families who heard a call for justice and knew this was their time to rise up and tell their truths. I'm not talking about a specific person and their story. I'm talking about a movement of society to reach unimaginable goals and achieve a united purpose of change.

Kids of all ages spoke out on this vicious circle of death, telling their own stories and their own beliefs. They stood in front of a crowd of thousands, pleading and demanding that the rules be changed and the cracks be sealed, that no more of their friends and loved ones be taken due to this horrid foundation of a society with too much power. They asked the question, how can we have freedom if we can't even feel safe enough to go into the world and get an education. How no kid, great or small, should have to worry they will not come home from school and be able to be with their families. Kids should be worrying about their homework, not about their lives.

Kids weren't the only ones to make a difference at his event. Celebrities like Ariana Grande, Jennifer Hudson, and Miley Cyrus came to sing out loud words of encouragement, using their words and their music to move the crowd.

"Enough is enough," protestors
gathering in Washington D.C and all around the world, raising their fists, screaming their words of right, and putting their foot down. There has never been a better time to take down a broken system, making the world a little bit more safe, one  step at a time. The "March For Our Lives" movement is now, and now is the time to make a change, to fight for

We must show the world the importance of gun control and how we cannot just wait around and hope things will fix themselves. We must fix the world, to save the lives of future sons and daughters, never forgetting the one's who have already been lost in the past month and years before.
This is a movement of all people unified, everyone coming together to tell their story and to use this time and this march as a sign of hope and new beginning. No more shall we sit back and let history write itself. We are the past, the present, and the future, and it is our time to make things right again, one step at a time.

  3. Hey Ben, great job on the blog. I love the topic you choose to dive into with our society being at where its at right now. Good explanation and description over the message your supporting. One question I want to ask you is if your doing anything outside of this blog to create change, and if not, would you? Great job again.

    1. Sorry I'm just now getting to this! I have been very distracted this past month. Anyways though, to answer your question, I am always looking for ways to help out my Hardin-Simmons community, even if it's just the simplest of things like holding the door open or assisting with activities for students and faculty. Previously this past break, I was given the opportunity to go on the BSM spring break trip to New York, where I helped out a Polish church and the community/ businesses that surround it. I believe everything we do molds and changes the world around us. You can always help change the lives of others. You may not be able to change the world and start a movement, but if you can help change the life of just one person, you done more good to this world than you know.
